Dialog - illustrations

The following illustrations were completed for my dialog project. First, a graphic, which captures my goal of both clearly defining two spaces, and of having those spaces appear to be shifting or in transit, capturing a passing conversation.



I also constructed three orthographic views, a plan followed by an elevation of 2 different sides. Due to both the interwoven nature of my model and the offset joints, all of these views were fairly challenging to conceptualize. However, the plan, or top view, was extremely challenging to visualize, and took several attempts. This difficulty is due to the offset nature of the connecting inner cards, those responsible for defining the two triangular spaces. One side of the triangle lay at at a far more sloped angle than the other, and thus appears to be shorter in length when viewed overhead. However, this appearance is difficult to actually observe since the brain automatically accounts for slope and thus determines that the two sides are of equal length.
